Residents of William Manor in Saskatoon are enjoying an enhanced quality of life, following a $545,000 renovation of the building.

“The Government of Canada is proud to have contributed over $250,000 in funding for this project,” said Kelly Block, Member of Parliament for Saskatoon – Rosetown – Biggar, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). “These renovated apartments will provide quality, affordable housing for the residents of William Manor and benefit the economic and social well-being of the Saskatoon community.”

“Repairing rental properties not only helps to build strong, healthy neighbourhoods but, most importantly, improves the quality of life for tenants,” Social Services Minister and Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, Donna Harpauer, said. “Our government is committed to improving housing in this province, and making life better for Saskatchewan people.”

Funding was provided by the Rental Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program (Rental RRAP), which is cost-shared by the federal and provincial governments. Rental RRAP provided approximately $337,000 for the project (approximately $253,000 from the federal government, with about $84,000 from the Province). An additional $16,000 in funding was provided by the provincial Saskatchewan Home Energy Improvement Program (SHEIP). The funding balance was provided by Enterprises Gravelbourg Ltd.

Rental RRAP offers financial assistance to rental property owners to pay for mandatory repairs to self-contained units occupied by low-income tenants.

The renovations, which were completed by Enterprises Gravelbourg Ltd., included heating, structural and fire safety improvements, as well as the installation of a high-efficiency boiler.

Located at 2024-22nd Street West, William Manor is a 24-unit apartment building consisting of 13 one-bedroom and 11 two-bedroom suites.

In 2008, the Government of Canada committed more than $1.9 billion over five years to improve and build new affordable housing and to help the homeless. Canada’s Economic Action Plan builds on this with an additional one-time investment of more than $2 billion over two years in new and existing social housing, plus up to $2 billion in loans to municipalities for housing-related infrastructure.

In Saskatchewan, the amendment to the Canada – Saskatchewan Affordable Housing Program Agreement, signed in May 2009, brought federal housing support of $84 million, while the province is contributing a further $77 million for the combined investment of over $161 million.

Some years ago choosing or deciding to go for a debt or mortgage was a tricky job. These days time is such that choosing a mortgage is easy. We scarcely have to look beyond if we have decided to approach the mortgage company for a home loan. Their interest rates are the best rates and even the common man can consider going for Affordable Home Mortgage Rates easily. Broadly speaking, these days there are many choices if one has decided to go the mortgage way . They have several mortgage products which include the Fixed rate mortgage, Interest only mortgage, Adjustable rate mortgage, Negative amortization mortgage, Tracker mortgage, Balloon mortgage, Graduate payment mortgage and several others. Each type of mortgage has its own benefits , terms and conditions and the borrower is advised to take proper assistance from the agents and then apply for a mortgage. Each mortgage product has a period of loan for which a fixed rate amount can be applied. Some of the mortgage products have a fixed rate for the period of the mortgage which further can be followed by the concluding payment. Terms and conditions differ from mortgage to mortgage, but it is definite that each mortgage product can be favorable in buying a major or even a minor property.

If we have to give ourselves complete relaxation we have to think of our future expenses. This is definite that the rates of the entire things are rising and they will be rising in future also. So we have to study and inspect our procedures of earning and saving. At least today, we can consider and buy a good house for ourselves or we can even buy a property, but I think in future it would become more difficult for us to even think of buying any major property. Taking the financial assistance from the mortgage companies could help us to a great extent. We can be at ease while following their Cheap home mortgage rates. I think this is the right time we can invest our money towards buying a property. Once we secure ourselves financially, then we are mentally relaxed also.

I was planning to buy a big house for myself. At present I stay in two bedroom flat, but wanted to buy a bigger one. For this I needed adequate finance and then my friend advised me to approach the Mortgage rates Ontario. It is not that I did not have funds at all. I had quite funds which I could use as down payment. When I visited the Mortgage Rates Ontario, I found that this is the best place I was looking for a mortgage. Their Cost-effective home loan procedures were unique and simple too. After a careful discussion with their agent, I decided to fix the Home Loan which I considered was the best for me.

PRESCOTT AND RUSSELL, February 13, 2009 — The Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario and the United Counties of Prescott and Russell today celebrated more than $2.3 million in funding for affordable housing in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. The event marks the grand opening of 25 new affordable housing units in The Nation as well as new funding which will help create eight new affordable rental units in Rockland and provide down payment assistance to 27 households in the United Counties.

The announcement was made by Pierre Lemieux, Member of Parliament for Glengarry – Prescott – Russell, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, and Minister responsible for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation; Jean-Marc Lalonde, MPP for Glengarry – Prescott – Russell, on behalf of the Honourable Jim Watson, Ontario’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing; and Prescott and Russell Warden Robert Kirby.

“The Government of Canada is committed to making affordable housing available in Ontario and across Canada for those who need it most,” said MP Lemieux. “With the opening of this project, low-income seniors and individuals with special needs in Limoges will now have access to quality, affordable rental housing that meets their specific needs, while remaining close to their families and friends.”

“Through this allocation to Prescott and Russell, the McGuinty government is renewing its commitment to work with our housing partners to grow the supply of affordable housing,” said MPP Lalonde.

Today’s announcement recognizes two projects in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell:

* The official opening of Residence Notre-Dame de la Paix at 44 Rue Des Benevoles in The Nation. The $2.1 million project, sponsored by RMJ Properties, earlier received $1.75 million under the Canada – Ontario Affordable Housing Program. The 25 units are occupied by low income seniors and individuals with special needs.
* New funding of $420,000 for an eight-unit project in Clarence – Rockland. The project is sponsored by Rockland Housing Corporation, and the units will be occupied by seniors and individuals with special needs.

The announcement also includes $187,535 in down-payment assistance for 27 households in Prescott and Russell.

The federal and provincial allocations are complemented by more than $900,000 in municipal financial incentives.

“Thanks to the efforts and contributions between all levels of government, partnerships with the private and non-profit sector, I am proud to announce that the United Counties will be able to help 102 households benefit from the Canada – Ontario Affordable Housing Program,” said Warden Kirby. “In all, 33 households will move into newly constructed affordable units; 27 tenants will have realised the dream of owning their home and 40 other households in need can rely on a rent supplement, making their rents more affordable.”

The Canada – Ontario Affordable Housing Program comprises a commitment of $301 million from each of the two senior levels of government. In total, the federal, provincial and municipal governments will invest at least $734 million in the program, which will provide affordable housing for 20,000 households in Ontario. Under the AHP, every region in Ontario has been allocated a specific amount of funding to assist low to moderate-income rental households to purchase affordable homes through interest-free down-payment assistance loans.

STRATFORD, February 10, 2009 — The Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario today announced more than $106,000 in funding to 14 households in Stratford and the County of Perth under the Homeownership component of the Canada – Ontario Affordable Housing Program. The Homeownership component of the program provides down-payment assistance for low-income renters to enter the housing market and purchase homes.

Moishe Alexander says that the announcement was made by Gary Schellenberger, Member of Parliament for Perth-Wellington, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), and John Wilkinson, MPP for Perth-Wellington and Minister of Research and Innovation, on behalf of the Honourable Jim Watson, Ontario’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

“The Government of Canada is committed to making affordable housing available in Ontario and across Canada for those who need it most,” said MP Schellenberger. “This investment will help people in Stratford and the County of Perth access quality, affordable housing and start a new page in their lives.”

“This funding allows people to get a foothold in the housing market while also helping to free up affordable rental housing for others,” said Minister Wilkinson. “It shows what we can accomplish when all three levels of government work together.”

The Canada – Ontario Affordable Housing Program comprises a commitment of $301 million from each of the two senior levels of government. In total, the federal, provincial and municipal governments will invest at least $734 million in the program, which will provide affordable housing for up to 20,000 households in Ontario. Under the AHP, every region in Ontario has been allocated a specific amount of funding to assist low to moderate-income rental households to purchase affordable homes through interest-free down payment assistance loans.

The announcement was made by Helena Guergis, Minister of State for Status of Women and Member of Parliament for Simcoe – Grey, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), and Aileen Carroll, MPP for Barrie and Minister of Culture and Minister Responsible for Seniors, on behalf of the Honourable Jim Watson, Ontario’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

“The Government of Canada is committed to making affordable housing available in Ontario and across Canada for those who need it most,” said Minister Guergis. “This investment will help people in the County of Simcoe access quality, affordable housing and start a new page in their lives.”

“There are 108 new homeowners in the County of Simcoe because of this excellent government initiative,” said Minister Carroll. “This funding allows people to get a foothold in the housing market. In so doing, it frees up more affordable rental housing, which is much needed in Simcoe County.”

ST. THOMAS, February 2, 2009 — The Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario today announced more than $149,625 in funding to 23 low and moderate-income households in the City of St. Thomas and County of Elgin under the Homeownership component of the Canada – Ontario Affordable Housing Program.

According to Moishe Alexander, the announcement was made by Joe Preston, Member of Parliament for Elgin – Middlesex – London, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and Minister Responsible for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and the Honourable Jim Watson, Ontario’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

“The Government of Canada is committed to making affordable housing available in Ontario and across Canada for those who need it most,” said MP Preston. “This investment will help people in City of St. Thomas and County of Elgin access quality, affordable housing and start a new page in their lives.”

“I’m proud to announce there are 23 more homeowners in the City of St. Thomas and County of Elgin,” said Minister Watson. “This funding allows people to get a foothold in the housing market, and alleviate some of the demand for affordable rental housing.”

Moishe Alexander says that the Canada – Ontario Affordable Housing Program comprises a commitment of $301 million from each of the two senior levels of government. In total, the federal, provincial and municipal governments will invest at least $734 million in the program, which will provide affordable housing for up to 20,000 households in Ontario. Under the AHP, every region in Ontario has been allocated a specific amount of funding to assist low to moderate-income rental households to purchase affordable homes through interest-free down-payment assistance loans.
